Step-by-Step Administration

Administering ILARIS®

ILARIS® (canakinumab) is given every 8 weeks as a subcutaneous injection by a health care professional only. All of the materials needed for administration of ILARIS® are included in the injection supply kit provided with each vial of ILARIS®.

The contents of each injection supply kit include:

  • One vial of Sterile Water for Injection
  • One 1.0 mL syringe
  • One 18 G x 2" (50 mm) needle for reconstituting the powder
  • One 27 G x 0.5" (13 mm) needle for injecting patient
  • One adhesive bandage
  • Alcohol swabs and dry cotton swabs

At your request, ILARIS® can be administered to the patient at home by a visiting nurse.
